Special Shotokan Karate Course.
The course is being held at Fleming Park Leisure Centre and the training will take place in the main hall and commence at 10am and finish at approximately 12pm.
The inspiration to host this course actually came from an event that Nigel organised and completed on Amnesty Day in 2011 and that event was known as 'Winchester 2 Romsey 4 Riflemen' and the proceeds that were previously raised from the 11th of November will also be donated to the Rifleman's cause.
This course is open to Shotokan Karate students of all grades and regardless of organisations, we ask that you please support this special fund raising event.
The course will take place in the main hall at Fleming Park Leisure Centre and the cost for training is £10 adults/families and £5 juniors. Donations are also welcome and can either be made on the day or by clicking on to the poster (below) Winchester 2 Romsey 4 Riflemen.

11th, 11th, 11th, 2011 Winchester Mayor & Nigel.
Winchester 2 Romsey 4 Riflemen:
"You just cannot keep a good man down. Once again Nigel Hosking is out there doing his bit for those that need help and support. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month Nigel did an 11 mile route march in Army kit from Winchester to Romsey to help raise cash for injured soldiers and families of the fallen. The march (or should I say run) was aptly coined 'Winchester 2 Romsey 4 Riflemen'. He raised cash for The Rifles Care for Casualties Appeal, set up in February 2010. The Mayor of Winchester saw him off on the journey and 11 miles later he was welcomed by the Deputy Mayor of Romsey and then finally Hampshire Fire Service at Romsey Fire Station. Sensei Nigel is a former Royal Green Jacket Rifleman and has done tours of duty with the Winchester-based Royal Green Jackets in Northern Ireland, Cyprus and Gibraltar in the mid-1970s. His fundraiser has caused quite a stir locally and was well documented in the Hampshire Chronicle, Romsey Advertiser and Southern Daily Echo. Nigel is always ready to raise money for the less fortunate summed it up by saying " I am just a torch and I have tried to light the way, I do this because I can and for those who can't".
He's a fine example to us all, you can donate directly to The Rifles Care for Casualties Appeal at http://www.careforcasualties.org.uk/
Karate demonstration & handover of cheque to JSSU.
Japanese Tsunami Karate Fundraising appeal:
You may remember that in our April edition of SEKU Update that Nigel Hosking (Instructor of the Eastleigh Dojo) was organising the Tsunami Appeal at Fleming Park Leisure Centre on 15th May to raise money to help the Survivors of the Japanese Tsunami that took place on Friday 11th March 2011. Nigel delivered a 2 hour Shotokan Karate course, and the appeal raised a total of £544. On Friday the 28th October Nigel was assisted by several Karate black belts, who presented a Shotokan Karate demonstration to the Japanese Society at Southampton University, after which they presented a cheque of £544 towards the Japanese Tsunami Appeal. Nigel gives praise to DC Leisure and the staff at Fleming Park for their support and everyone who made a donation towards the appeal but I suspect the real hero of the day was Nigel himself.
These funds were raised through a special karate course held on 15th May 2011, to help victims of the Japanese tsunami. The course was organised by Nigel Hosking, where he taught a number of students, keen to learn karate whilst helping a good cause.
